How do I create group tickets / group discount?

There are various ways in which group discounts can be offered. Which method is preferred depends on the conditions under which the discount must be passed on. Below we have explained three different ways in which group discounts can be offered.

1. Set minimum/maximum number of tickets per order
2. Cart Automations: automatically add additional tickets when selecting a certain ticket type
3. Quantity Discount: discount based on the number of tickets selected

1. Set minimum/maximum number of tickets per order

You can set that you must select at least 4 tickets from a certain ticket type. You could combine that with “maximum 4” so that you have a group ticket for 4 people. Or you can leave the top open so you get the discounted rate for all groups of 4 or more.

• Create a ticket type with the desired discount rate, for example "Group ticket for 4 people"
• Edit tickettype
• 'Sales' tab
• Restrictions: 
  • set the minimum number of tickets per order to 4. 
  • Set the 'Applies from' to 1
  • Set the maximum number of tickets per order to 4 (or higher if the discount also applies to more than 4 tickets).

2. Cart Automations: automatically add additional tickets when selecting a certain ticket type

With cart automations you can have cards added automatically, or place the obligation on the ticket buyer to add cards. You do this by creating 'Ticket groups', and then creating a cart automation that says "if tickets from group

• Create a ticket type for your group ticket with the price for the entire group (for example, "group ticket for 4 people")
• Create a ticket type for the extra tickets for the group and hide them in the ticket shop (edit ticket type, 'Presentation' tab, turn on 'Hide')
• Go to 'Sales'
• Go to the 'Ticket groups' tab
• Create one ticket group with your group ticket (1x) and one ticket group with your extra tickets (so for example 3x the extra ticket for the group if you create a group ticket for 4 people)
• Go to the 'Cart automation' tab
• Create a new rule ('add rule') called "Group ticket for 4 people":
  • IF: a ticket from this group is added
  • FILTERS: ticket group with your group ticket
  • THEN: Items will be added automatically
  • Click 'New application'
  • Select dropdown 1: Ticket group
  • Select the ticket group with your extra tickets in dropdown 2
  • Enter quantity 1 in dropdown 3
• Click on 'Save'

3. Quantity Discount: discount based on the number of tickets selected

With quantity discount you can set certain discounts (% or €) to be given when selecting certain quantities of cards. You can also increase/decrease the discount if larger quantities are selected. In the example we create a discount where the amount of discount per card for 4, 5 or 6 people increases.

• Go to 'Sales'
• Go to the 'Ticket groups' tab
• Create a ticket group with the ticket you want to apply a group discount to (a ticket with a regular value). You only need to add one ticket type.
• Go to the 'Quantity discount' tab
• Create a new quantity discount for 4 people
  • Discount: nominal discount per item EUR 10
  • Rules:
    • Number of tickets from group: select the ticket group created above
    • is between:
      • Minimum amount: 4
      • Maximum amount: 4
• Create a new quantity discount for 5 people
  • Discount: nominal discount per item EUR 15
  • Rules: 
    • Number of tickets from group: select the ticket group created above
    • Is between: 
      • Minimum amount: 5
      • Maximum amount: 5
• Create a new quantity discount for 6 people
  • Discount: nominal discount per item 20 EUR
  • Rules: 
    • Number of tickets from group: select the ticket group created above
    • Is between: 
      • Minimum amount: 6
      • Maximum amount: 10

You have now created the following group discount:

• When you select 4 tickets you will receive a discount of 10 euros per ticket
• When you select 5 tickets you will receive a discount of 15 euros per ticket
• When you select 6 to 10 tickets you will receive a discount of 20 euros per ticket
